General description

Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a mycotoxin, belonging to the class of aflatoxins, mainly produced by Aspergillus species, A. flavus or A. parasiticus. These toxic secondary metabolites are harmful to animal and human health. They can enter the food chain via contaminated crops and fruits or through processed food and feed products. Aflatoxin B1 can be found in agricultural products and food products including cereals, spices, nuts, fruits, vegetables, dry fruits, etc.

Application

Aflatoxin B1 may be used as reference material for the quantification of the analyte in peanuts, grain samples and red pepper using analytical techniques.
Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.

Aflatoxin B(1) (AFB(1))-N(7)-guanine is the predominant adduct formed upon the reaction of AFB(1)-8,9-exo-epoxide with guanine residues in DNA. AFB(1)-N(7)-guanine can convert to the ring-opened formamidopyrimidine, or the adducted strand can undergo depurination. AFB(1)-N(7)-guanine and AFB(1)-formamidopyrimidine are thought to be predominantly
