General description

Girdin (Ccdc88a; APE, GIV, or HkRP1) is a ubiquitous protein belonging to the CCDC88 family. Girdin is an actin-binding protein which interacts with actin via its C-terminal domain, and may play a crucial role in cell motility and cytoskeleton remodeling. These effects may be regulated by a reciprocal relationship between Girdin and Akt. Akt phosphorylates Girdin, and Girdin binds to Akt and enhances phosphorylation of Akt, thereby promoting phosphorylation of Akt’s downstream targets such as GSK-3β and FOXO1A. Girdin/Akt signaling may play an important role in cancer by facilitating the proliferation of cancer cells.

Immunogen

Recombinant protein corresponding to human Girdin.

Application

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:250 dilution from a representative lot detected Girdin in epithelial cells of human prostate tissue.

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:500 dilution from a representative lot detected Girdin in HeLa cells.

Immunoprecipitation Analysis: A representative lot immunoprecipitated Girdin in COS-7 cell lysate.
This Anti-Girdin, C-terminus Antibody, clone 10E6.1 is validated for use in Western Blotting, IHC(P), ICC, Immunoprecipitation for the detection of Girdin, C-terminus, clone 10E6.1.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blot in human brain tissue lysate.

Wesetern Blot Analysis: A 1:5000 dilution of this antibody detected Girdin in 10 µg of human brain tissue lysate.

Canonical signal transduction via heterotrimeric G proteins is spatiotemporally restricted, i.e., triggered exclusively at the plasma membrane, only by agonist activation of G protein-coupled receptors via a finite process that is terminated within a few hundred milliseconds. Recently, a rapidly
