Gene Information

human ... ANKRD1(27063)

General description

Ankyrin repeat domain-containing protein 1 (UniProt Q15327; also known as Cardiac ankyrin repeat protein, Cytokine-inducible gene C-193 protein, Cytokine-inducible nuclear protein) is encoded by the ANKRD1 (also known as C193, CARP, HA1A2) gene (Gene ID 27063) in human. ANKRD1/CARP belongs to a family of conserved muscle ankyrin repeat proteins (MARPs), members of which also include ANKRD2 and diabetes ankyrin repeat protein (DARP, ANKRD23). ANKRD1 is highly expressed in cardiomyocytes and known to interact with myopalladin and titin, implicating its roles in myopalladin complex-dependent sarcomere integrity maintenance and stress-induced gene regulations medidated by the titin complex. ANKRD1 is up-regulated in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and in animal models of cardiac hypertrophy induced by pressure overload and adrenergic stimulation. ANKRD1 is shown to regulate the hypertrophic agonist phenylephrine-/PE-induced α-adrenergic signaling pathway in neonatal rat ventricular myocytes, where it recruits and localizes ERK1/2 and GATA4 in a sarcomeric complex, resulting in enhanced GATA4 phosphorylation and subsequent ANKRD1 complex nuclear translocation and gene activation.

Immunogen

Epitope: Ankyrin repeats 4&5.
GST-tagged recombinant human ANKRD1/CARP fragment corresponding ankyrin repeats 4&5.

Application

Anti-ANKRD1/CARP Antibody, clone 12G8.2 is an antibody against ANKRD1/CARP for use in Western Blotting, Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin).
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:250-1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected ANKRD1/CARP in human and rat heart tissue sections.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in human heart tissue lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 0.5 µg/mL of this antibody detected ANKRD1/CARP in 10 µg of human heart tissue lysate.
