General description

A potent, cell-permeable, non-tubulin-interacting mitosis inhibitor. Arrests mammalian cells in mitosis with monopolar spindles. In vitro, it specifically inhibits the motility of the mitotic kinesin Eg5, a motor protein involved in the assembly and maintenance of the mitotic spindle (IC50 = 14 µM).

Preimplantation embryos often consist of a combination of euploid and aneuploid cells, suggesting that safeguards preventing the generation and propagation of aneuploid cells in somatic cells might be deficient in embryos. In somatic cells, a mitotic timer mechanism has been

During the entry process, the human papillomavirus (HPV) capsid is trafficked to the trans-Golgi network (TGN), whereupon it enters the nucleus during mitosis. We previously demonstrated that the minor capsid protein L2 assumes a transmembranous conformation in the TGN. Here
