Application

Photodissociation dynamics of 1,2-dibromopropane at 234 and 265 nm has been investigated by using velocity map ion imaging method[1]. 1,2-Dibromopropane was used to study the effect of reductant concentration, reductant contact time and suspension pH on reductive dechlorination of carbon tetrachloride by soil manipulated with Fe(II) andHS-[2]. It was used as internal standard during the determination of nitrogenous disinfection byproduct trichloronitromethane by gas chromatography mass spectrometry[3].

Biochem/physiol Actions

1,2-Dibromopropane induces hepatotoxicity and immunotoxicity in female BALB/c mice[4].

Based on recent results that 1,2-dibromopropane (1,2-DBP) causes hepatotoxicity and immunotoxicity in female BALB/c mice as well as a reduction of hepatic glutathione levels, the possible formation of glutathione conjugates and mercapturic acids of 1,2-DBP was investigated in vivo in

This paper described the first analytical method to simultaneously determine 14 disinfection by-products (DBPs) in meat products using microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) and static headspace (SHS) followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The DBPs included were 4 trihalomethanes, 7 haloacetic acids

1,2-Dibromopropane was administered orally in doses of 50-350 mg/kg to male Wistar rats. Four mercapturic acids were identified in urine by GC/MS, viz. N-acetyl-S-(2-oxopropyl)-L-cysteine (I), N-acetyl-S-(2-hydroxypropyl)-L-cysteine (II), N-acetyl-S-(1-carboxyethyl)-L-cysteine (III), and N-acetyl-S-(2-bromo-2-propenyl)-L-cysteine (IV). Mercapturic acid IV was a minor metabolite which

A novel method is described in this paper, which uses methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) as extractant and 1,2-dibromopropane as internal standard for the determination of nitrogenous disinfection byproduct trichloronitromethane (TCNM) by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS). This study investigated the potential formation of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) during chlorination and chloramination of 20 water samples collected from different points of Yuqiao reservoir in Tianjin, China. The concentrations of dissolved organic matter and ammonia decreased downstream the reservoir
