Gene Information

General description

Large tumor suppressor kinase 1/ 2 (LATS1/2) is a mammalian homologue of the Drosophila tumor suppressor gene (lats)/warts. LATS1 and LATS2 are encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosomes 6q23-25.1 and 13q11–q12 respectively. hLATS2 is highly expressed in skeletal muscle and heart. LATS1 encodes a putative serine/threonine kinase.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human LATS1/2 around the phosphorylation site of Thr1079/1041.

Immunogen Range: 1041-1090

Biochem/physiol Actions

Large tumor suppressor kinase 1 (LATS1) and LATS2 are the key kinase constituents of the Hippo pathway. They play a vital role in the regulation of tumor progression and cell cycle, via various mechanisms and signaling pathways. LATS1 acts as a tumor suppressor in cervical cancer by regulating the expression of cyclin E, p27, matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9) and yes-associated protein 1 (YAP). Overexpression of LATS2 leads to the development of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Therefore, it is considered as a potential therapeutic target for AML treatment.
