General description

Simethicone comprises a combination of linear siloxane polymers that are fully methylated and consist of repeating units represented by the formula [–(CH3)2SiO–]n. The polymer is further stabilized using trimethylsiloxy end-blocking units denoted by the formula [(CH3)3SiO–], along with silicon dioxide.

Application

Simethicone USP reference standard suitable for use in specified USP compendial tests and assays.

Also used to prepare standard solutions for impurity analysis in Simethicone using the IR technique according to the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) monograph.
