Chlorfluazuron belongs to the family of benzoylurea insecticides used against various crops, fruits, and vegetables. It is a chitin synthesis inhibitor and controls the lepidopteran pests by disrupting molting and subsequent completion of their life cycle due to incomplete exoskeleton formation.
As per the commission regulation no 1107/2009, repealing the council directive 91/414/EEC, chlorfluazuron is not approved for use in the European Union. But according to Art 18(b) Reg 396/2005, a default maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.01 mg/kg is applicable, wherever necessary.
Application
Chlorfluazuron may also be used as follows:
- To study the metabolism of chlorfluazuron and flonicamid in tea samples using a modified QuEChERS extraction and UPLC-MS/MS quantification
- Determination of chlorfluazuron residues in Chinese cabbage, Chinese kale, Chinese lettuce, and cauliflower by ultra high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(UHPLC-MS/MS)
- Development and validation of a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method for the detection and measurement of chlorfluazuron in termites
- To determine 9 benzoylurea insecticides in samples of whole milk, rice, egg, lemon, lettuce, beef meat, and avocado using pressurized liquid extraction and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS)
- To develop a method based on in-syringe dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction and HPLC determination for the analysis of 5 benzoylurea insecticides in water and tea beverage samples
- Analysis of benzoylurea insecticides in tea samples using Fe3O4- hyperbranched polyester (HBPE) nanocomposite as an adsorbent for magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) and HPLC
