Application

This recombinant variant is recommended for use in absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) pharmacological research; cell culture; drug delivery research; and cryopreservation of cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Albumins are soluble monomeric proteins found in the body fluids and tissues of animals and in some plant seeds. Serum albumin functions as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones. Serum albumins are also vital in regulating the colloidal osmotic pressures of blood.

Physical properties

Recombinant construct with N-terminal deletion of Asp. Structurally equivalent to native albumin by x-ray crystallography. The N-terminal Asp is the principal Cu2+ and Ni2+ chelation site; its deletion eliminates an important antigenic determinant, and the protein is hypoallergenic. Also blocked at Cys34 to improve stability, monomer content and homogeneity.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 4 mM sodium caprylate and 4 mM N-acetyltryptophan.
