Fluorescent Dye Wavelength Index
Fluorescent dyes are used to tag proteins, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules for use in life science applications, including fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), receptor binding assays, and enzyme assays. Using the right combination of fluorescent-labeled biomolecules can enable multiple targets to be visualized simultaneously. Fluorescent dyes are optimized for excitation and detection in the visible light to near infrared spectrum. The choice of fluorochrome to use is determined by its excitation and emission wavelengths and the application.
