General description

Acetone is a carbonyl-group bearing chemical which is categorized under the ketone family of compounds.

Application

Acetone has been used as a reference standard for the determination of the analyte in human breath, cattle breath and human blood by solid-phase extraction combined with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). It may be used as a solvent in volatile phenols determination by dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME) combined with GC-MS.(5)
