Mucin 1 (MUC1) is a O-glycosylated, membrane bound, transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the mucin (MUC) gene family. It is expressed on the apical surface of mucosal epithelia in the lung, eye, breast and stomach. It consists of an N-terminal extracellular domain consisting of variable number tandem repeats (MUC1-TR) of 20 amino acids (aa) and a C-terminal domain which includes a 53aa extracellular region, a transmembrane domain (TM) and a 72aa cytoplasmic tail (MUC1CT).
Immunogen
Immunogen Sequence: GI # 65301117, sequence 199-244
Recombinant MUC1 mucin isoform 1
Application
Anti-MUC1 antibody produced in chicken is suitbale for immunohistochemistry and western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Mucin 1, cell surface associated (MUC1), plays an important role in the cell signaling during cancer progression. It carries tumor-associated epitopes and is aberrantly expressed in tumors. MUC1 plays a crucial role in the development, progression of breast cancer and could promote the invasion ability of breast cancer cells. Mutation in the gene may result in progressive chronic kidney failure with a bland urinary sediment.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.

Human mammary cells present on the cell surface a polymorphic epithelial mucin (PEM) which is developmentally regulated and aberrantly expressed in tumors. PEM carries tumor-associated epitopes recognized by the monoclonal antibodies HMFG-1, HMFG-2, and SM-3. Previously isolated partial cDNA clones
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA) has one of the worst prognoses of all cancers. Mucin 1 (MUC1), a transmembrane mucin glycoprotein, is a key modulator of several signaling pathways that affect oncogenesis, motility and metastasis. Its expression is known to be
