Specificity

Clone 9E1 is a mouse monoclonal antibody that detects BSA-conjugated Estradiol.

Immunogen

BSA-conjugate Estradiol (Estradiol-6-BSA).

Application

Quality Control TestingEvaluated by Immunocytochemistry in OVCAR 3 cells.Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:25 dilution of this antibody detected Estradiol (6-BSA) in OVCAR 3 cells.Tested ApplicationsELISA Analysis: Various titrations (2-fold serial dilutions) starting at 100 ng/mL from a representative lot detected Estradiol (6-BSA).Note: Actual optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user as specimens, and experimental conditions may vary with the end user
Anti-Estradiol (6-BSA), clone 6E1, Cat. No. MAB1233-I, is a mouse monoclonal antibody that detects Estradiol-6-BSA and is tested for use in ELISA and Immunocytochemistry.

Target description

Estradiol is a major female sex hormone that regulates estrous and menstrual cycle. It is also present in smaller quantities in males where it is an active metabolic product of testosterone. In females, it is mainly produced by the granulosa cells in the follicles of ovaries. Smaller amounts of estradiol are also produced by the adrenal glands. It acts as an agonist for the estrogen receptor (ER) and can bind to both ERa and ERb. It is synthesized from cholesterol where androstenedione is a key intermediate which is converted to estradiol by aromatase. It is metabolized via hydroxylation into catechol estrogens. In the liver it can undergo hydroxylation into 2-hydoxyestradiol by CYP1A2, CYP3A4, and CYP2C9. Estradiol is reported to directly act on the central nervous system to modulate energy balance and reduced levels of estradiol following ovarian insufficiency have been linked to menopause, hyperphagia, and weight gain. Physical form

Purified mouse monoclonal antibody IgG in PBS without azide.

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at -10°C to -25°C from date of receipt. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.

Other Notes

Concentration: Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.
