Gene Information

human ... VPS26C(10311)

General description

Trisomy of human chromosome 21 result in patients with Down′s syndrome, which is a complex developmental and neurodegenerative disease that is characterized with abnormal morphological features, hypotonia, and mental retardation. The DSCR3 (Down syndrome critical region gene 3) gene is found in this region. DSCR3 expresses Down syndrome critical region protein 3, which is reportedly expressed in many studied tissues. While it is suggested that this protein is involved in neuroexcitation and in cellular signaling, further study is still required to elucidate its role and mechanism of action.

Specificity

Other homologies: Rat and Mouse (92% sequence homology).

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human DSCR3.

Application

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:200 dilution from a representative lot detected DSCR3 in human gastric tissue.

Following endocytosis into the endosomal network, integral membrane proteins undergo sorting for lysosomal degradation or are retrieved and recycled back to the cell surface. Here we describe the discovery of an ancient and conserved multiprotein complex that orchestrates cargo retrieval

The Commander complex is required for endosomal recycling of diverse transmembrane cargos and is mutated in Ritscher-Schinzel syndrome. It comprises two sub-assemblies: Retriever composed of VPS35L, VPS26C, and VPS29; and the CCC complex which contains twelve subunits: COMMD1-COMMD10 and the

Commander is a multiprotein complex that orchestrates endosomal recycling of integral cargo proteins and is essential for normal development. While the structure of this complex has recently been described, how cargo proteins are selected for Commander-mediated recycling remains unclear. Here
