General description

Hemocyanin purified from Keyhole Limpet (Mega thura crenulata). Protein:≥60%; copper to protein ratio: ≥1.5 x 10-3
Protein:≥60%; copper to protein ratio: ≥1.5 x 10-3
Stable solid containing more than 60% protein. Protein is 90% undissociated hemocyanin.

Warning

Toxicity: Standard Handling (A)

Physical form

Lyophilized from BES buffer, MgSO₄.

Reconstitution

Dissolve at 5-10 mg/ml (protein) in PBS or other physiological buffer by GENTLE addition of the buffer (e.g. slowly added down the side of the tube). DO NOT vortex or agitate vigorously to dissolve product. (KLH is an extremely large protein complex and has a tendency to aggregate and precipitate from solutions.) For further dilutions, use an appropriate buffer and maintain the magnesium concentration at ≥10 mM. Solutions should be stored in the refrigerator (4°C).
