About This Item

CAS Number:
UNSPSC Code:

General description

Coconut oil from Cocos nucifera is the most common vegetable oil. It is mainly composed of lauric acid, which is responsible for most of the physiological and metabolic properties of coconut oil. It also contains high amount of low molecular weight saturated fatty acids, which makes it applicable for both edible and non-edible purposes. Deacidification by ultrafiltration of coconut oil has been reported by membrane filtration. Its decomposition thermally and by oxidation have been analyzed by thermo-gravimetric analysis. Its potential as a source to generate biodiesel has been studied under various operating conditions.
