General description

Sucrose monolaurate is a non-ionic detergent and a carbohydrate fatty acid monoester. It is generally used for the solubilization of membrane proteins.

Application

Sucrose monolaurate has been used as an antimicrobial agent. It has also been used as a constituent of lysis buffer to homogenize placental tissues for determining serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT) activity.
