General description

Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is a cytokine produced by activated T cells in response to antigen stimulation. IL-2 is important for proliferation of lymphocytes, natural killer cells and macrophages and in the differentiation of CD4+ cells into Th1 and Th2 effector cells. It also has a vital role in modulating the expression of the IL-2 receptor and can facilitate B cell growth and differentiation. Anti-Interleukin-2 antibody can be used for neutralizing the bioactivity of recombinant human IL-2 as well as natural human IL-2. It can also be used in immunohistochemistry. Goat anti-Interleukin-2 antibody reacts specifically with recombinant human IL-2. The antibody exhibits less than 10% cross-reactivity with rmIL-2 and rrIL-2.

Specificity

The antibody will neutralize the biological activity of recombinant and natural human IL-2. The antibody shows <10% cross reactivity with recombinant mouse and rat IL-2.

Immunogen

recombinant human IL-2.

Application

Anti-Interleukin-2 antibody can be used in western blotting and indirect ELISA for detecting recombinant human IL-2.

Physical form

Lyophilized from 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline containing carbohydrates.

Interleukin-2 (IL-2) has multiple, sometimes opposing, functions during an inflammatory response. It is a potent inducer of T-cell proliferation and T-helper 1 (Th1) and Th2 effector T-cell differentiation and provides T cells with a long-lasting competitive advantage resulting in the
