General description

The Apelin receptor (APJ receptor) is a Gi/o-coupled protein with significant sequence homology to the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor. It is activated by apelin peptides (12, 17, or 36 amino acids). The effects of the apelin receptor are mediated mainly through the activation of protein kinase C and calcium signaling. The apelin receptor has been detected in the brain, heart, spleen, thymus, ovary, small intestine, and colon. Several studies have suggested that it is involved in regulating cardiovascular function and glucose homeostasis.

Specificity

This antibody recognizes Apelin receptor at the cytoplasmic domain.

Immunogen

Epitope: Cytoplasmic domain
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the cytoplasmic domain of human Apelin receptor.

Application

Research Category
Stem Cell Research
This Anti-Apelin receptor Antibody is validated for use in Western Blotting, IHC(P) for the detection of Apelin receptor.
Western Blot Analysis: 0.5 µg/mL from a representative lot detected Apelin receptor on 10 µg of human cerebellum tissue lysate.

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected Apelin receptor in several regions of mouse brain sections.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blot in mouse cerebellum tissue lysate.

Western Blot Analysis: 0.5 µg/mL of this antibody detected Apelin receptor on 10 µg of mouse cerebellum tissue lysate.

Target description

~62 kDa observed. The calculated molecular weight of this protein is 42 kDa, but can be observed at ~62 kDa due to high glycosylation. (Medhurst, A., et al (2003). Journal of Neurochemistry. 84:1162–1172.)

Physical form

Affinity purified
Purified rabbit polyclonal in buffer containing 0.1 M Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 150 mM NaCl with 0.05% sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at 2-8°C from date of receipt.

Analysis Note

Control
Mouse Cerebellum Tissue Lysate
