Can Spigot be autoclaved? When should I change the Spigot?

Yes, the spigot can be autoclaved. Nalgene polypropylene carboys can be autoclaved before refilling to eliminate bacterial growth when storing sterile solutions. Please do not autoclave with the closure or closed spigot in place (open spigot to aid in ventilation and cooling) and wait until the closure and carboy are completely cooled to room temperature before securing closure or closing spigot—closure must be completely removed prior to autoclaving with no threads engaged. The spigot should not need to be replaced, however, it should be cleaned regularly.
