General description

Gentian Violet, also known as crystal violet, is a synthetic triarylmethane dye. It is widely used in various applications, including histology, microscopy, and microbiology. It is often used to stain tissues, cells, and microorganisms for visualization and identification purposes.

Application

Gentian Violet is the primary stain used in the Gram stain technique for differentiation of Gram-negative versus Gram-postive bacteria. Used as a component of CV cytotoxicity assays.
