General description

Metoclopramide is a drug, which can be effective in the treatment of severe nausea and vomiting caused by the anticancer drug cis-platinum.
Metoclopramide is typically employed as an antiemetic drug or a gastrointestinal prokinetic drug in adults and children.

Application

Metoclopramide may be used as a reference standard for the determination of the analyte in serum samples using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) with electrochemical detection.
Metoclopramide may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in:
  • Human plasma by liquid–liquid extraction (LLE) with dichloromethane followed by hydrophilic interaction chromatography-electrospray iionization-tandem mass spectrometry (HILIC-ESI-MS/MS) operating in selected reaction monitoring (SRM) mode of detection.

It may also be used as an internal standard for the determination of loratadine and desloratadine in:
  • Human plasma by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled to MS/MS with multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) detection.
