General description

Corticosterone is a corticosteroid and aldosterone precursor produced in the adrenal glands. Serum corticosterone levels are measured by LC-MS/MS for newborn screening and diagnosis of 11-hydroxylase deficiency.

Application

  • Corticosterone ELISA kit for stress hormone research: Research has demonstrated the efficacy of corticosterone ELISA kits in measuring stress hormone levels, contributing significantly to studies on adrenal gland function and stress-related disorders. This application is vital for in vivo corticosterone analysis, allowing detailed monitoring of hormone fluctuations in response to various stressors (Ornelas et al., 2024).

  • High-purity corticosterone for receptor binding assays: Corticosterone solutions are extensively used in receptor binding assays to understand corticosteroid receptor interactions. These studies are crucial for advancing knowledge in endocrinology biochemical studies, particularly in mapping corticosteroid pathways and their effects within the body (Xie et al., 2024).

  • Synthetic corticosterone solution for endocrine studies: Synthetic corticosterone is employed in clinical experimental setups to examine the endocrine system′s response under controlled conditions. This usage is particularly evident in studies focusing on the adaptation of the endocrine system to external stress factors and its impact on overall physiological health (Costa et al., 2024).

  • Liquid corticosterone for stress response research: Liquid formulations of corticosterone are pivotal in conducting stress response research, providing a consistent and measurable means of administering this hormone to study its acute and chronic effects on animal behavior and physiological responses (Ornelas et al., 2023).

  • Corticosterone reagent for glucocorticoid receptor experiments: As a reagent, corticosterone is integral to glucocorticoid receptor experiments, which are essential for understanding glucocorticoid receptor dynamics and their implications in various physiological processes, including immune response and metabolic regulation (Heraudeau et al., 2023).

ACTH1-24(1 mg/kg) administered to 5-7-day-old rats reduced their locomotor activity and did not alter blood levels of corticosterone. ACTH administration on postnatal days 12-14 increased corticosterone levels, but had no effect on locomotor activity. Thus, the behavioral effect of ACTH
