General description

18:1-d7 Lyso PE (1-oleoyl(d7)-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine) is a deuterated phospholipid. The glycerol is esterified with oleic acid. Oleic acid harbors the deuterium ions. Lysophosphatidylethanolamine (LPE) is generated from phosphatidylethanolamine by the action of enzyme phospholipase A2.
This deuterium labeled lipid is also available in a formulation of multiple lipid standards. The SPLASH LIPIDOMIX Standard includes all of the major lipid classes at ratios relative to human plasma, allowing one easy internal standard solution to be added to every sample.

Application

18:1-d7 Lyso PE (1-oleoyl(d7)-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine) has been used as a component of extraction solvent for lipid isolation from biological samples. It has also been used as an isotopically labeled lipid internal standard for correction of lipids detected in lipid droplets using shotgun mass spectrometry analysis.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Lysophosphatidylethanolamine (LPE) plays a key role in neuronal differentiation in PC12 cells. It possesses antibacterial and antifungal activity. LPE also favour the calcium transport through G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR).

It is now widely accepted that lysophospholipids (LPLs), a product of the phospholipase A reaction, function as mediators through G-protein-coupled receptors. Notably, recent studies of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) have revealed their essential roles in vivo. On
