General description
Aluminum phosphate is a white crystalline solid with excellent thermal stability and a wide bandgap. It also possesses high dielectric constant and insulation properties. It is widely used in the field of solar cells, capacitors, and fuel cells.
Application
Aluminum phosphate can be used:
- As a coating material to modify the surface of NCM cathode of Li-ion batteries. It helps to enhance the discharge capacity and capacity retention ability of batteries.
- As a bifunctional additive to fabricate electrode for Li-S batteries. It acts as a lithium polysulfide capturing agent to reduce and stabilize interfacial resistance during cycling.
- To fabricate polypropylene separator with low ionic impedances and high thermal/electrochemical stability. This leads to improved ionic conductivity and Li-ion diffusion coefficient.

The pressure-swing adsorption method for carbon dioxide capture would ideally be facilitated by adsorbents with a high capacity and a high selectivity for CO₂. Several aluminophosphates with 8-ring window apertures (AlPO₄-17, AlPO₄-18, AlPO₄-53, and AlPO₄-25) were synthesized by hydrothermal crystallization
