General description

Ytterbium(III) chloride hexahydrate is a white crystalline solid used as a precursor to synthesize nanomaterials and as acatalyst in various organic transformations.

Application

Ytterbium(III) chloride hexahydrate can be used as a precursor:
  • To synthesize ytterbium oxide nanodiscs to fabricate white LEDs.
  • To prepare NaYF4:Yb/Ho/Mn upconversion nanoparticles with good luminescent intensity, for biomedical applications.
  • To fabricate three-dimensional NaYF4:Yb3+/Tm3+hexagonal prisms for near IR photocatalytic H2 evolution.
