General description
Generally, bases are retained longer on the HS F5 than on a C18. Increasing the organic content of a C18 separation 5 to 10 percent will generally provide similar retention on an HS F5. Results with other compounds are highly variable. However, it is generally true that solutes with log Po/w values less than 2.5 will be retained longer on HS F5 compared to a C18. The degree of difference is highly solute dependent.
Application
- Nature of the main contaminant in the drug primaquine diphosphate: SFC and SFC-MS methods of analysis.: This study uses the Discovery® HS F5 HPLC Column to identify and quantify the main contaminant in primaquine diphosphate, crucial for ensuring the quality and safety of this antimalarial drug (Brondz et al., 2007).
- HPLC assisted chemobiological standardization of alpha-glucosidase-I enzyme inhibitory constituents from Piper longum Linn-An Indian medicinal plant.: Demonstrates the application of the Discovery® HS F5 HPLC Column in the biologically relevant chemical analysis of Indian medicinal plants, contributing to the standardization of herbal medicine (Pullela et al., 2006).
- Disposition study of a new potential antineoplastic agent dimefluron in rats using high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet and mass spectrometric detection.: Utilizes the Discovery® HS F5 HPLC Column to study the pharmacokinetics and metabolism of a novel anticancer agent, aiding in the development of effective cancer therapies (Císar et al., 2005).
- A simplified analytical method for a phenotyping cocktail of major CYP450 biotransformation routes.: This research employs the Discovery® HS F5 HPLC Column to simplify the analysis of a phenotyping cocktail, enhancing the assessment of drug metabolism and facilitating personalized medicine approaches (Jerdi et al., 2004).
