General description

Rab27 (Ras-related protein) is a member of the Rab family of small guanosine triphosphatases (GTPases). Rab27 is widely expressed in non-neuronal regulated secretory cells, including exocrine, endocrine, ovarian, and hematopoietic cells.
Rab27A (Ras-related protein) belongs to the Rab family of small GTPase proteins. It is located on chromosome 15q21.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues 45-57 of human RAB27A, with an added cysteine, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence differs by one amino acid in rat and mouse Rab27A and by 2 amino acids in human RAB27B.

Application

Anti-Rab27 (N-terminal) antibody has been used in immunoblotting, immunofluorescence.

Biochem/physiol Actions

In humans, Rab27A (Ras-related protein) plays important roles in the development of cancers. It is considered as a prognostic biomarker for CRC (colorectal cancer) patients. It may participate in the transfer of protein and signal transduction mediated by GTPase. Rab27 mutation is linked with Griscelli syndrome type 2. It is also responsible for the innate immune resistance against invading microorganisms.
Rab27 (Ras-related protein) regulates the exocytosis of these cell-specific store organelles, using multiple organelle-specific effector proteins, such as granuphilin and melanophilin.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
