Application

GenOx-PJ is an iodine(III) based oxidant developed by Genentech as part of a robust method of forming C-O bonds through direct coupling of carboxylic acids with alcohols. When used with a Ru(II) photocatalyst, GenOx-PJ is active in the decarboxylative coupling of a broad range of carboxylic acids--including primary, secondary, tertiary, as well as peptides--with alcohols. By this method, GenOx-PJ enables a direct approach in utilizing simple, readily available substrates to perform this type of coupling, and providing many synthetic applications.
