General description

Anti-EDG5 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total EDG5 protein.
EDG5/ S1PR2 (sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 2), a pleiotropic lipid mediator is abundantly expressed in most of the tissues. S1PR2 codes for a 353 amino acid sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 2 and is located on human chromosome 19p13.2.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human EDG5.

Immunogen Range: 261-310

Biochem/physiol Actions

In NB (neuroblastoma), EDG5/ S1PR2 (sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 2) helps in the expression of S1P-induced vascular endothelial growth factor. It promotes the Rho/Rho-kinase pathway. S1PR2 participates in S1P-induced platelet aggregation. S1PR2 is essential for normal auditory function as it is a part of the sphingosine-1-phosphate signaling (S1P) pathway.
