General description

Borneol, a bicyclic monoterpenoid alcohol which is a major constituent of medicinal plants is grouped under the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) family of chemicals. It is employed as analgesic and anesthetic in traditional Chinese and Japanese medicines.

Application

(+)-Borneol has been reported exert highly efficient positive modulating gamma-aminobutyric action (GABA) action at human recombinant α1β2γ2L GABAA receptors.
