Application

L-Arginine monohydrochloride has been used to study the effects of amino acids in promoting food consumption in Drosophila melanogaster. It has also been used to develop a non-invasive chronic pancreatitis model of rat.

Biochem/physiol Actions

L-Arginine is a semi-essential amino acid. This dibasic amino acid acts as a precursor for creatinine and is a natural constituent of most of the dietary proteins.
Substrate of nitric oxide synthase, which is converted to citrulline and nitric oxide (NO). Induces insulin release by a nitric oxide-dependent mechanism.

Ferroptosis is a more recently recognized form of cell death that relies on iron-mediated oxidative damage. Here, we evaluate the impact of high-iron diets or depletion of Gpx4, an antioxidant enzyme reported as an important ferroptosis suppressor, in the pancreas

Ferroptosis is a type of iron-dependent regulated cell death, representing an emerging disease-modulatory mechanism. Transcription factors play multiple roles in ferroptosis, although the key regulator for ferroptosis in iron metabolism remains elusive. Using NanoString technology, we identify NUPR1, a stress-inducible
