General description

Histones are basic nuclear proteins that are responsible for the nucleosome structure of chromatin in eukaryotes. Two molecules of each of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) form an octamer, around which DNA is wrapped in repeating units, called nucleosomes. Histone H2B is one of the main histone proteins involved in the structure of chromatin in eukaryotic cells. Featuring a main globular domain and a long N terminal tail H2B is involved with the structure of the nucleosomes of the ′beads on a string′ structure.

Specificity

Antibody recognizes Histone H2B near the C-terminus.

Immunogen

Epitope: C-terminus
Ovalbumin-conjugated synthetic linear peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of Histone H2B.

Application

Anti-Histone H2B Antibody, clone 5HH2-2A8 is a Mouse Monoclonal Antibody for detection of Histone H2B also known as Histone H2B, histone 2 H2be & has been validated in WB, ICC.
Immunocytochemistry:
A 1:500 dilution of a representative lot of this antibody detected Histone H2B in A431, HeLa and NIH/3T3 cells.
