Vitexin is a naturally derived C-glycosylated flavone found in various medicinal plants which can exhibit a wide range of anti-tumor, anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties.

Vitexin has been used as a standard in the determination of therapeutic potential of mung bean via inhibition of HMGB1, which in turn inhibits sepsis type of infection, using high performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS).
