General description

1,2-Dichloroethane (Ethylene Dichloride) is a clear, colorless, oily, synthetic, flammable liquid chlorinatied hydrocarbon with a pleasant chloroform-like smell that emits toxic fumes of hydrochloric acid when heated to decomposition. It is primarily used to produce vinyl chloride, and as a solvent in food processing. It can be used in the manufacturing of acetyl cellulose and ethylenediamine. It also can serve as a solvent for oils, fats, waxes, resins, gums, etc.

Application

1,2-Dichloroethane may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in biological samples, wastewater, and sewage samples by gas chromatography (GC) based techniques.
