Nestin (NES) is a class VI cytoplasmic protein. It is expressed in the intermediate filaments and has a molecular weight of 177kDa. The gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 1q23.1 with four exons.
Immunogen
synthetic peptide corresponding to residues 254-270 of human Nestin. This sequence is 93% identical in rat.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Nestin (NES) functions as a regulator of proteins which are involved in cell growth. It also interacts with other proteins of the intermediate filament. NES has been studied as a marker of neural stem cells.
Physical form
solution in phosphate buffered saline, containing 0.02% sodium azide.

Bone marrow (BM) is a reservoir for immune and hematopoietic cells and critical for tissue repair and regeneration. All of these functions are severely altered in cirrhosis. We investigated the cellular and functional state of BM in cirrhosis patients. We

Pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) are regarded as potential sources that provide specific neural cells for cell therapy in some nervous system diseases. However, the mechanisms underlying the neural differentiation of PSCs remain largely unknown. MicroRNAs (miRNAs or miRs) are a class of

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressive joint disorder. To date, there is not effective medical therapy. Joint distraction has given us hope for slowing down the OA progression. In this study, we investigated the benefits of joint distraction in OA rat

Several renal disorders affect the glomerular podocytes. Compensatory structural and functional changes have been observed in animals that have undergone unilateral renal ablation. These changes occur as a pliant response to quench the increased functional demand to maintain homeostasis of
Restenosis or occlusion after vascular procedures is ascribed to intimal hyperplasia. Transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 is involved in recruitment of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) following arterial injury, and its release from latent TGF-binding protein by matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-14-induced proteolysis contributes
