Application

4-Nitrophenyl phosphate di(tris) salt has been used:
  • as a substrate to quantify tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) activity in cell lysates
  • to determine phosphatase activity using native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE)
  • for alkaline phosphatase in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)

Biochem/physiol Actions

p-Nitrophenyl Phosphate (pNPP) is a preferred substrate for alkaline phosphatase in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) procedures, because of its high sensitivity. This substrate produces a soluble yellow end-product and can be read spectrophotometrically at 405 nm.
