Guanadine thiocyanate (GTC) is a chaotropic agent and strong denaturant that is used in research for protein degredation in vitro. This is useful for DNA or RNA isolation and purification. GTC is a key reagent for inactivation of endogenous DNases and RNase for molecular biology techniques used to isolate nucliec acids from tissues, cells, or viral genomes.
Application
Chaotropic agent and strong denaturant; solubilizes cells.
