General description

The ready-to-use Picrofuchsin solution acc. to van Gieson for Microscopy, is used for staining collagenous connective tissue, muscle tissue, and cornified epithelium in human sample material. It can also be used to stain glia fibrils and cytoplasm. Fuchsin and picric acid, the two ingredients of the solution, stain the various tissue structures simultaneously and selectively. Collagenous fibers will appear with a vibrant red color, muscle tissue and glia fibrils will be stained yellow and amyloid, hyaline, colloid, as well as mucus will be stained gradually red to yellow. Staining with Weigert′s iron hematoxylin is advised to produce a stable and persistent stain of the nuclei. Picrofuchsin solution acc. to van Gieson can also be used in combination with elastin solution acc. to Weigert in the van Gieson elastica staining method to detect elastic fibers in histological sections. 500 ml of the Pirofuchsin solution are sufficient for at least 500 specimens. It is an IVD and CE registered product and can be applied for diagnostical purposes. For more details, please see instructions for use (IFU). The IFU can be downloaded from this webpage.
