To neutralize 0.5 L of 120 mM 66930 solution, it is recommended to use 8 ml of 0.5 N HCl to adjust the pH to 8, and then dilute the HCl (e.g. 0.1 N) to titrate to pH 7.3. This approach can help avoid the drastic drop in pH.

When preparing a solution for patch clamping, what is the best optimal amount of HCL to use for ensuring that NaOH will not be required to maintain pH 7.3? F
1 answer-
The necessary amount of HCl would need to be determined by the end-user. It is recommended to record the initial pH value prior to the addition of HCl. After recording the intial pH, add small increments of HCl (1-2 mL). The molarity of the HCL must also be considered when adding incremental volumes. A 1M HCl would be considered fairly dilute. Higher concentrations would require volume adjustments. Record the pH value after 5 minutes of stirring.
