Application

NanoFabTx Mannose Lipid Mix is a ready-to-use curated lipid mixture containing rationally selected lipids and step by step instructions for synthesizing mannose targeted liposomes.Mannose receptors are over expressed on several cancer cells. Mannose receptors are also over expressed by macrophages, which play a critical role in inflammatory responses. Thus the mannose receptor can be used to achieve targeted delivery of drugs to these cells. The liposomes containing the mannose ligand will be internalized by the cells that over express the mannose receptors. Such a delivery technique will help in achieving targeted delivery of the drugs and avoid off target effects, which is a major side effect of many cancer therapies.

The mannose targeted- liposomes synthesized from the NanoFabTx Mannose Lipid Mix enable users to 1) encapsulate a wide variety of small molecules and 2) selectively target cells which overexpress mannose receptors, such as macrophages and certain cancer cells, without the need for lengthy trial-and-error optimization.

Features and Benefits

  • A ready-to-use lipid blend for the synthesis of Mannose targeted liposomes
  • Step-by-step protocols (extrusion, microfluidics) developed and tested by our formulation scientists
  • Flexible synthesis tool to create uniform and reproducible liposomes
  • Mannose ligand enables targeted drug delivery
Comprehensive protocols for liposome synthesis are included:
  • A lipid film hydration and extrusion protocol
  • A microfluidics protocol using commercial platforms or syringe pumps
The microfluidics protocol included with this product uses the NanoFabTx device kit (911593). These kits come with the microfluidics chips, fittings, and tubing required to get started with microfluidics-based synthesis (compatible microfluidics system or syringe pump required).

For more information, please refer to the protocol under the Protocol section of this page.
