Application

Adenosine 5′-triphosphate disodium salt hydrate has been used:
  • to prepare adenosine triphosphate (ATP) standard solutions to determine ATP levels in various bacterial cultures
  • bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDM) treatment[1]
  • as a preparation free of contaminating guanine nucleotides to study the binding effects of coatomer β subunit (β-COP)[2]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Adenosine 5′-triphosphate (ATP) is a central component of energy storage and metabolism in vivo.[3] ATP is used in many cellular processes, respiration, biosynthetic reactions, active transport, and motility.[4] ATP is a substrate of many kinases involved in cell signaling and of adenylate cyclase that produce the secondary messenger cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). ATP provides the metabolic energy to drive metabolic pumps.[4] It serves as a coenzyme in a wide array of enzymatic reactions.
P2 purinergic agonist; increases activity of Ca2+-activated K+ channels; substrate for ATP-dependent enzyme systems
P2 purinocepter agonist.

The coatomer is a cytosolic protein complex that reversibly associates with Golgi membranes and is implicated in modulating Golgi membrane transport. The association of beta-COP, a component of coatomer, with Golgi membranes is enhanced by guanosine 5'-[gamma-thio]triphosphate (GTP[gamma S]), a

Questions

1–3 of 3 Questions
  1. I would like to know how many g of ATP disodium salt hydrate contains in FLAAS -1vol vial? Thanks

    1 answer
    1. In catalog number FLAAS, the specification for our vial Content is 0.90 - 1.10 mg ATP/vial by Enzymatic Assay.  Please refer to the specific lot certificate of analysis for an individual quantity.

  2. What volume of water should 1mg ATP be reconstituted in & what would be its corresponding concentration?

    1 answer
    1. This product is soluble in water up to 50 mg/mL. The appropriate stock concentration for assays can be determined by the end user. The molecular weight is 551.14 (anhydrous basis), and the water content can be found on the lot-specific certificate of analysis. Using the molecular weight, the water content, and the chosen concentration for the ATP solution, the molarity can be calculated.

  3. Can I dissolve this ATP in water and store it?

    1 answer
    1. This item can be solubilized in water at 50 mg/mL yielding a clear, colorless solution. Aqueous solutions of ATP are stable for months at -15C and or one week when stored at -0C as mentioned in the Product Information Sheet.
