Application

Newborn calf serum (NCS) is collected within 10 days post partum. NCS is useful in a wide range of cell culture and organ preservation applications. For example, it is used in cornea preservation and cryopreservation of bovine embryos. NCS is used in cell culture to support the maturation of oocytes; to study the function of tubular epithelial cells; and to develop primary cultures of cells such as visceral adipocytes.

Preparation Note

Collected from calves that are 10 days old or less.

The human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-resident glycoprotein UL148 is posited to play roles in immune evasion and regulation of viral cell tropism. UL148 prevents cell surface presentation of the immune cell costimulatory ligand CD58 while promoting maturation and virion

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) belong to the nuclear receptor family of ligand-dependent transcription factors. PPARs have been shown to be important regulators of female reproductive functions, including conceptus development and placenta formation. This study examines the effect of PPARβ/δ and

DDX5/p68 RNA helicase is a member of the DEAD (Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp) box proteins. Apart from RNA unwinding, DDX5 is an important transcriptional factor and co-activator in cell proliferation and differentiation. Here, we have characterised the role of DDX5 in adipogenesis in

Oxidative stress has been considered to be a common pathogenetic factor of diabetic nephropathy. But the reason why renal cells are susceptible to oxidative injury in diabetes is not clear. Vitamin C plays a central role in the antioxidant defense

To establish a defined in vitro maturation culture system for porcine oocytes, we examined the effects of adding cysteine (Cys) and epidermal growth factor (EGF) to the maturation medium. Furthermore, to evaluate cytoplasmic maturation, we investigated GSH concentrations and embryo
