General description

Midodrine is a prodrug[1] and a long acting α-adrenergic stimulating agent, and forms an active metabolite, desglymidodrine,[1] which causes an elevation of the systemic blood pressure with the reduction in heart rate.[2]

Application

Midodrine hydrochloride may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in biological samples[2] and pharmaceutical formulations[1] using different chromatography techniques.
