ReadyTube® is ready to use media to provide the highest level of quality and testing confidence for improving accuracy and significantly reducing the risk of false results. ReadyTube® Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar is used for selective isolation of Enterobacteriaceae or bile tolerant gram-negative bacteria. Enzymatic digest of animal tissues and yeast extract provide nitrogenous compounds and other nutrients essential for bacterial metabolism. This media is selective due to the presence of the bile salts and crystal violet. Crystal violet inhibits Gram-positive organisms especially Staphylococci. Neutral red indicator helps to detect glucose fermentation. Glucose fermenting strains grow red or pink and are surrounded by a zone of acid precipitated bile. Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic equilibrium in the medium. The red color is due to the absorption of neutral red and a subsequent color change of the dye when the pH of the medium falls below 6.8.
Application
ReadyTube® Violet Red Bile Glucose Agar is used for selective isolation of Enterobacteriaceae or bile tolerant Gram-negative bacteria from non-sterile pharmaceutical products, foodstuffs, and environment samples.
