General description

17:0-20:4 PI(3)P, phosphatidylinositol 3?phosphate, is the predominant phosphoinositide localized in endosomes and yeast vacuoles.[1] It is synthesized by phosphatidylinositol 3?kinase (PI3K) from phosphatidylinositol.[1][2]

Application

17:0-20:4 PI(3)P has been used as an internal standard for targeted lipidomic analysis.[3]

Biochem/physiol Actions

17:0-20:4 PI(3)P plays a vital role in intracellular membrane trafficking and recruitment of effector proteins, which possess PI(3)P-binding motifs to membranes.[1][2] It also regulates the formation of autophagosomes.[4]
