General description

Nickel(II) bromide ethylene glycol dimethyl ether complex, also known as Ni(II) bromide ethylene glycol dimethyl ether complex. It is an organometallic coordination compound used as a precursor for the deposition of nickel-containing thin films. It is also found applications in organic synthesis as a Lewis acid catalyst.

Application

Nickel(II) bromide ethylene glycol dimethyl ether complex can be used as a precursor for synthesizing various nickel(II) complexes. These complexes used as a catalysts for:
  • The selective transformation of ethylene into higher-order products.
  • The vinyl polymerization of norbornene.
  • The preparation of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) Kumada catalyst transfer polymerization. It facilitates good control over the molecular weight of the conjugating polymer.
