General description

Lanthanum(III)chloride heptahydrate is a mild, inexpensive, and moisture-stable heterogeneouscatalyst widely used in several organic transformations.

Application

Lanthanum(III) chloride heptahydrate can be used as an efficient catalyst for :
  • Solvent-free preparation of substituted alkenes via Knoevenagel condensation.
  • One-pot synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones.
It can be used as a precursor to synthesize La/V co-doped TiO2 nanoparticles through the sol-gel method. La co-doped TiO2 nanopowder show enhanced photocatalytic activity.
