1-Decanol can be obtained via decomposition of decyl hydroperoxide or dehydrogenation of 1-decene, followed by hydrolysis.
This substance is listed on the positive list of the EU regulation 10/2011 for plastics intended to come into contact with food.

Application

1-Decanol can find applications as a solvent in order to recover morpholine, via extraction of morpholine from the aqueous effluent in rubber, petrochemical, dye, coking plants, resin and also organo-chemical industries.
