Forkhead box P3 (FOXP3) is a transcription factor and part of the forkhead family. It possesses three α helices and three β strands. The protein has an amino-terminal region, a central zinc finger, a leucine zipper domain and the carboxyl-terminal region has a forkhead domain. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome Xp11.23.
Immunogène
Peptide with sequence SQRPSRCSNPTPGP from the C Terminus of the protein sequence according to NP_054728.2.
Actions biochimiques/physiologiques
Forkhead box P3 (FOXP3) associates with nuclear factor of activated T cells (NFAT) and nuclear factor κ B (NF-κB). It has a crucial role in the cellular differentiation of regulatory T cells. Alterations in the protein expression have been associated with immunodysregulation, polyendocrinopathy, enteropathy, X-linked (IPEX) syndrome. FOXP3 has a role in tumor growth and cancer.
